Buying a Home During the Fall is a Good Idea

Don’t stop searching for a home just because it’s October! The fall is a great time to purchase a home and here’s why.

  1. There may be less competition – Spring and summer are usually the busiest months for home shopping. In addition, many people look to get into their homes before school starts. So, you may find that there is less competition when you’re house hunting.
  2. You may feel less pressure – With new home inventory going fast during the spring and summer months, you may feel a sense of urgency to purchase a home quicker. With not as many people shopping during the fall months, you can slow down the pace of finding a new home and carefully select the home of your dreams instead of feeling rushed.
  3. You can celebrate the holidays in your new home – If you purchase a home in the fall you will be able to celebrate the winter holidays and New Year’s in your new home. Depending on when you purchase your home in the fall, you may even be able to celebrate Thanksgiving in it too. French Brothers currently has a few quick move-in homes available that can help expedite the home buying process to get you into your home quicker.
  4. You will experience better weather – Even though the days are getting shorter and the air is crisper, the fall is still an ideal time to purchase a new home. It’s not as hot as it was during the spring and summer months. It’s not too cold yet either like you will find during January and February, which are usually the coldest months in New Mexico. The weather will be much better when searching for a new home and moving into a home. Plus, the likelihood of inclement weather is lowered when buying a home in the fall.
  5. You can take advantage of tax breaks – You may be able to deduct expenses from buying a home on tax returns, including property tax and mortgage interest. This can help reduce the amount of money owed to Uncle Sam.

French Brother Homes builds in communities throughout New Mexico. Contact us today at 575-622-4188 to learn how we can help you get into a new home this fall.
