Tips for Decorating Around an L-Shaped Couch

L Shaped Couch With Large TV on wall
L-shaped couches have become very popular in Alamogordo NM homes over the years. They’re a great seating option that is versatile, offers plenty of seating, are extremely comfortable, and can also act as the focal point of your room. But how should you decorate around your L-shaped couch? Read below to find out.

  1. Against the wall – With this placement, only one side is placed against the wall. The other arm can act as a divider to separate the different spaces. This placement design is popular for smaller living and great rooms but can work well in a larger room.
  2. In the corner – This is one of the most common ways to decorate with an L-shaped couch. That’s because an L-shaped couch fits extremely well in corners. Placing the couch in the corner opens up the room, optimizes wall space, and doesn’t disrupt the flow of traffic as much. Leave it a few inches from the wall and place a console table behind your L-shaped sofa to balance it out. This will be a great spot for lamps or to display trinkets, family photos, and other artful accessories. This placement design also leaves room for you to add a desk or sewing table on the opposite wall to balance it all.
  3. Center of the room – Positioning your L-shaped couch in the center of the room is ideal for open floor plans and larger rooms, such as the ones found in our Alamogordo NM homes. Not only does it free up wall space but the seating is more easily accessible. You could also place it in front of your entertainment center, fireplace, or T V mounted on the wall.

We hope these three tips have given you inspiration for decorating around your L-shaped couch. Choose the option that works best for your lifestyle and needs. Remember to tie in the space to complete the look by selecting a coffee table or ottoman that fits within the boundary of your sofa edges. Place it within arm’s reach so things are easily accessible. Get an area rug that is big enough to balance the sofa and furniture together. Don’t use too many pillows either. Place them in the center, left, and right of your sofa and have them spaced out enough for someone to sit.
